Affiliate marketing is where merchants that have a website on the
internet allow other companies or individuals to promote or market
their products or services. These Third Party companies or
individuals that promote the merchants program are called
affiliates.
The affiliates are paid a commission from the merchant when a
sale, lead or click is generated from the affiliates website or link
in an email etc.
What Benefits does affiliate marketing
have for merchants?
It's Pretty Simple. If you are struggling to make online sales or
just want to increase online sales and your business exposure on the
internet then affiliate marketing is a must! The great thing
about affiliate marketing is that you only pay for results. Imagine
if you had hundreds or even thousands of websites out there
advertising your website and you only had to pay for your
advertising when they achieved results. This is possible as this is
exactly what affiliate marketing is all about.
I as the writer of
this article personally use affiliate marketing to promote my online
business and websites. I have a fishing tackle and water sports
business and I use with much success affiliate marketing to drive

sales and website traffic to my website and the results are fantastic.

How as an affiliate do I promote a merchant
website and make money online?
To start promoting a
website and start making money online it is pretty simple. You are
in most circumstances required to have a website yourself or the
ability to publish content to the on a website you have access or
permission to do so.
You must then join an affiliate marketing network most if not all
are free to join. Some affiliate networks are
Clix Galore,
Commission Junction, Commission Monster, Jumbo Affiliates and Click
Bank. These are just a few examples of the major and most popular
networks.
Once you have set up your free affiliate account you are
then generally free to select any merchant you want and start
promoting their program. Some merchants will have automatic approval
whilst some merchants will require you to apply to their merchant
program for consideration before you are approved.
Once you are
approved to promote a merchants program you can then place their
banners on your website or the affiliate code in emails if you are
going to market their program by email. You are then ready to start
making money online and generate affiliate commissions.
Ways to
increase your chance of making money online and if a merchant allows
this in their terms is to use Google Adwords to promote their
program. In some instances you can directly promote the merchants
program with Google Adwords by pointing your affiliate link directly
to their site. I do advise you to be careful using this method as
this method can either make you money or cost you dearly. Do not use
high cost keywords or general keywords. A general keyword for
example could be
if you are promoting a website on dogs, do not use dogs as a
keyword. Instead try to find profitable keywords that are cheap and
may have potential to make you money.
What Keyword programs are recommended to
help find profitable keywords?
A good program that I recommend for finding keywords is
Keyword
Elite. This program is designed to and can find thousands of
keywords around your main key phrase.
Keyword Elite is great for
also finding thousands of misspelled keywords. Misspelled keywords
can be very profitable keywords to use in Google Adwords if you find
the right ones.

If you are a merchant seeking to increase your online sales or
